Charles,

Woohoo, thanks for the reply! :) it's a thrill to finally talk to someone who's posts I have been reading for so long.

<I personally am expecting some number north of 0.30 and a very upbeat guidance. My thinking is that the stock is headed into 60s once all the major analysts update their year 2000 and 2001 forecasts.>

I am not sure what to expect for earnings, On one hand some estimates sound so high but on the other hand AMD seems to have done such a great job. In truth though I am much more interested in the forward guidance than any numbers. I hope you are right about the upbeat guidance.

<P.S.: Your name sounds very medical to me - is that some gas?>

Hehe, no it's not a gas but it is medical, it's a synonym for adrenaline. I too am very bullish on AMD. I have been for quite some time and I have been holding long for most of that time. Many times I have thought the stock was going to go up and it has proved just how wrong I can be. I know all the positives and I have high hopes so I am considering holding through earnings. I do believe that it just might be "different this time" :) but it is pretty scary to put it all on the line. It gets the adrenaline going hence the name. :)

Thanks again for the reply.

Re: <<<It is possible. If AMD thinks Q1 is going to be seriously down then they could move part of the Q4 to Q1.>>>

Charles, assuming this did happen (and obviously companies definitely do it):

1. Is this illegal or legal?

2. If this is legal (and obviously the reporting company must report or footnote this in their financial's), to what account is this debited/credited to? Future earnings/cash (or AR)?

I remember Citicorp long ago taking a voluntary $1 billion write-off hit for 3rd world loans. That is when John Reed REALLY became a hero. Wall Street elevated him to god-like status.

However, that was for the same quarter's financial's, this would be for future financial's.

Thanks in advance.

PS: And PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!! No smart@$$ posts from anybody, I really want the TRUE answer on this.

Chuck - RE: "I think anything in double digits will be considered blowout (consensus is "0.01"). However, a dime may not get the stock price anywhere given higher expectations from some folks (like Niles and the folks on SI/Yahoo/JC)."

Hopefully not too many people read this thread, otherwise something like $0.50 may seem a disappointment. ;)
