Most others in the tents were not even conscious by that time. I also rented Boukreev's book in audio, on tape. Most of the book is told through the translator. But for the description of the rescues from the high camp, Boukreev tells the story himself on the tape in his broken english, and it is heartbreaking. He describes running from tent to tent asking for help, and then failing that, asking for oxygen. Both requests went unanswered at each tent, then he just went out alone into the white-out storm. Several times this sequence was repeated.
