I'm with the bulls. Who cares if the growth takes place outside of Microsoft? They still own pieces of these fast growing companies. It's simply a technicality that they are separate companies rather than internal divisions of Microsoft. They've contracted out the profit-making!

Seriously, has anybody looked at the balance sheet as opposed to the income statement? I'll admit I haven't had a chance, but the appreciation of their assets must be formidable. The income portion derived from investments is only that which they have cashed in on, no? I'm shooting from the hip but isn't the book value climbing rapidly as Microsoft's investments in various companies (expedia, apple, etc.) appreciate dramatcally? It's going to become a value play!
