####### Why did I subscribe to AOL? I've been comparing content on AOL Vs @HOME, Yahoo, and Excite; there is little to distinguish them and all of their "proprietary" content pale to the content available on the net at large. #######

Did you just open up a topic that deserves serious thought.

Boy I can't believe there will ever be enough money available to invest in "proprietary" content that can compete with what is available on the net at large.

So the day of reckoning is coming for "eyeball" and "page-view" justified business models.

It is just a matter of time before users of all ages venture out of "proprietary" to the "real" Internet and discover that they don't need the "proprietary" umbilical cord after all.

The only issue of vendor differentiation will be speed.
