ebookers.com Embarks on the Largest Ever Advertising Promotion By an Internet Company
LONDON, Jan. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- ebookers.com, (Nasdaq: EBKR; Neuer Markt: eb6) Europe's No.1 online travel specialist, today announces the launch of the largest ever UK outdoor promotional campaign by an Internet company.

The campaign, comprising 3200 48-sheet posters, is central to the Company's pan-European brand development and growth strategy and is illustrative of its plans for similar activities on the continent. It dwarfs all other campaigns to date by online traders and is further evidence of the fulfilment of ebookers.com's flotation commitments.

At the time of its Nasdaq and Neuer Markt flotation in November 1999, ebookers.com promised that it would undertake a strategy of pan-European brand expansion both organically and by acquisition. To assist this, and to attract traffic to its pan-European network of on-line travel sites; in Y2000 ebookers.com has set aside $45 million for marketing and sales in online and traditional offline campaigns such as print and radio media, to drive an extensive increase in revenues.

The significant scope of this advertising promotion in the UK is just the beginning of ebookers.com's strategy to blanket Europe with a strong branding campaign. The Company has plans for similarly substantial campaigns in Germany and France where the largest revenue opportunities exist, and in Scandinavia.

ebookers.com's marketing strategy and acquisition programme are now ahead of schedule and within budget.

Dinesh Dhamija, CEO of ebookers.com said ``This is clear evidence that we are delivering on the promises we made at flotation. It is vitally important that we strengthen our brand in tandem with our European acquisition programme. The size of this campaign is unique and unprecedented for an online company. This scale of advertising will reinforce our position as the consumers' first choice for online travel and substantially increase our revenue.'
