I have not followed the details sure, it is not worthwhile to wait for answers. They do their work extreeeeeeeeemely slow, so as to bore off public interest. I thought it interesting that Kohl / living party rift had become public after all. Kohl may be asked now to resign from his parliamentary seat, not only from his 'honorary chairmanship'. However I am not sure whether it is wise to let the guy go, depart from responsibility. For further revelations, e.g. news.bbc.co.uk

I am utterly appalled by the frivolity of Sayn-Wittgenstein's excuses, and so are the majority of voters. Schaeuble's stepping back now would be a strategic mistake, he must hold on and take the dirt that pours over him and other Kohl-contemporaries, otherwise the next generation would have to take over and would be instantly contaminated for all future. Strategy might be to go on like now for one or two years, and try to get things straight until then, and let 'youth' afterwards take over ... if approval rates go on falling like know, CDU will request a strategic partnership with the liberals in three weeks - with CDU being the junior partner .... shedding completely new light on a prior request by you!
