Thanks, everyone, for the help so far. In my searching today, I've found that it's even more complicated. Most of the currently available 8.4GB drives aren't this one, and I haven't had any luck yet finding out if they use the same circuit board. The part number for my drive is: SE84A012 The newer ones start with QM and I haven't found anyone yet who can lay their hands on one and read the numbers off the circuit board for me. Will keep trying (while also attempting to get caught up). Bob
