Thanks, everyone, for the help so far.

In my searching today, I've found that it's even more complicated.

Most of the currently available 8.4GB drives aren't this one, and I haven't had any luck yet finding out if they use the same circuit board.

The part number for my drive is: SE84A012 The newer ones start with QM and I haven't found anyone yet who can lay their hands on one and read the numbers off the circuit board for me. Will keep trying (while also attempting to get caught up).
