Speculation like early 1990's Gold

The tech market is very similar to the gold stocks in early/mid 1990's. Speculation is rampant and success keeps generating more bettors. It wasn't until Bre-X that the first problems arouse. When gold prices dropped, the speculation was over.

I don't know what will cause tech speculation to end. I find ATY fairly priced (20x earnings in a growing company) while Corel is very shaky at this price. I look at Nortel and I wonder how they can ever obtain earnings to satisfy the curent valuations.

I got burned bad on gold and decided to value invest instead of speculate on tech stocks (I thought it was going to die early last year and if I had bought, most of my picks went up 10 fold !!!).

An interesting article below.
