A few thoughts on Circuit City:

SanDisk tying up with large retailers is inherently valuable, of course. Of more significance are the terms of those agreements, which we do not know. Manufacturers that have strong agreements with retailers obtain far better placement for their products on the retailers' shelves. In retail, placement is everything.

If SanDisk can make arrangements with these large retail chains to have specially designed kiosks or self-standing displays featuring a dozen different SanDisk products, then our favorite disks will start to jump off the shelves. If, on the other hand, SanDisk products are jammed in alongside all the other flash media, and Sony and Lexar get more shelf space, then the impact will be small.
