Dunton, you've got it wrong! MM lost on the puts not because his market calls weren't good but because of the expense of the puts and the fact that the S&P in 1998 was much stronger than the broad market. He in fact called the top pretty much on target both in 1998 and 1999. Give him credit where it's due.
