TrueSAN Recruits Marc Birnkrant as Chief Operating Officer

Brings Strong Industry Track Record, Seasoned Management

Mountain View, CA. January 12, 2000: TrueSAN Networks, a leader in Fibre Channel disk array and storage-area network solutions for the internetworked enterprise, has recruited Marc Birnkrant to the position of Chief Operating Officer. Marc will assist with developing and managing TrueSAN's infrastructure and service offerings.

Marc Birnkrant brings to TrueSAN 16 years of management experience concentrated in the mass storage arena. Marc began his career at NEC Electronics where he provided technical support and marketing direction for NEC's family of single-chip microcontrollers. In 1992 Marc established the first application specific organization focused strictly on system solutions for the Hard Disk Drive market. In 1994, Marc funded a Bay-area startup to provide design expertise for NEC's foray into advanced digital read channels. Marc's final position at NEC was General Manager of the $250M Mass Storage Business unit.

In early 1998 Marc moved to Singapore where he took over the responsibility as President of TriTech Microelectronics. Marc successfully reorganized TriTech to take advantage of its analog core competence. Marc then came back to the U.S. in early 1999 to start his own consulting firm, where he provided management expertise to two pre-IPO startups in networking and storage. Marc received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rochester and holds a patent in the testing and emulation of an embedded CPU.

"I am honored and ecstatic to join a company that is poised to take a leadership position in the exploding SAN market," stated Mr. Birnkrant. "TrueSAN's reputation for technological innovation, outstanding product quality, and its unique management leadership were just a few of the key elements used to confirm that this was a winning team and an outstanding opportunity."
