I suspect that Metaframe/Linux R&D is happening as we speak but will be kept under extremely tight wraps unless and until Citrix is committed to deployment on a Linux platform. No need to unnecessarily rock Mr. Softie's boat in the meantime. These folks have proven to be smart, forward looking operators, and there is no reason to expect them to be blindsided by an ever increasing installed Linux base. As far as the SCOC threat, the only leverage they have is price. Sure, they'll pick up some business by their sheer willingness to give it away to gain a toe-hold. But the big and smart operators will take the tried and true solution over the "on the cheap" solution any day.
