Re: IT Utility. Well, it just hit the newswire, though it doesn't mention THCG, so I doubt many THCG shareholders know about it. =================== IT Utility Joins Citrix Application Service Provider Program 01/19/2000 Business Wire (Copyright (c) 2000, Business Wire)
ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 19, 2000--
Standardizes on Citrix (R) Application Server Software for its
Alternative Information Service Architecture(TM) (AISA[TM])
IT Utility announced today that it will standardize on Citrix (R) MetaFrame(TM) application server software as the enabling platform for its Alternative Information Service Architecture(TM) (AISA[TM]), and has joined the Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CTXS) Application Service Provider program.
IT Utility concluded that the Citrix Application Service Provider program provides unique and comprehensive support for its high-availability, 24x7 service. Citrix will provide joint marketing and sales support, 24x7 technical support, enhanced training, as well as access to its groundbreaking iLicense program, which enables IT Utility to pass savings to its clients. IT Utility is also entitled to use the Citrix Application Service Provider brand.
" Citrix Metaframe(TM) has been a strategic enabling technology in our business plan from the outset," said Mike Lowry, president of IT Utility. "The Citrix Application Service Provider program recognizes the extraordinary technical and marketing support needs of a fledgling industry and improves the entire industry's ability to deliver quality services."
By using Citrix MetaFrame(TM) as its standard platform for managed application delivery, IT Utility will empower its clients to access their data and applications from anywhere they happen to be, whether in their own office or on the other side of the world. Legacy applications can be immediately "Internet enabled," and easily integrated with newer e-commerce applications.
IT Utility is focused on the small-to-mid-sized business market, offering services to clients with 100 to 2,000 users. IT Utility's AISA(TM) service includes standard desktop services, Microsoft Office, Internet access, Web page hosting, and custom application services. The IT Utility Consulting Services division is available to assist clients in integrating their legacy applications with newer Internet-based services.
IT Utility also offers "wholesale" hosting services for specialty application vendors, enabling them to accelerate their sales and implementation cycles.
IT Utility's AISA(TM) is currently in beta test with 2 clients. Wholesale application hosting is currently being provided on a production basis with Horizon Systems, Inc., a health-care industry application developer.
"IT Utility has developed a unique business model, and will be a showcase demonstration site for the entire range of service capability that the MetaFrame(TM) product enables," said Chris Phoenix, vice president and general manager of Citrix iBusiness Unit. "As a member of our ASP program, IT Utility can serve as a resource to other ASPs regarding this specific approach to the market and Citrix 's role in its value-add."
