Mike, I discussed HWP puts with you a few weeks ago, and subsequently I had an order in when HWP was at 118. My order didn't get filled (even though someone else's buy order was filled at a lower price -- but that's another story). I didn't think I'd get another shot, but lo and behold, HWP has raised its ugly head again.

My guess is tomorrow or Friday will be the day to buy.

Mike,

I saw a news release of IBM's 4th quarter. Any comments on what tricks the Company used to beat the estimate? I noticed that even though revenue in 1999 was down, S,G&A as a % of revenue was down from 4th Q 1998. How does a Company that earned less in 4th Q 1999 than in 4th Q 1998 get a premium growth multiple?

Thanks

Jim

To All, IBM stank the house out with negative revenues and eps. Of course, the stock is up 3 points on the news. They even gave guidance for flat to down this quarter. But I guess that by saying that eps would be even worse than they were, they were able to scam the blundering herd. It sure looks bad for computer sales.

BTW, SG&A's % of revenues declined, which I find suspicious when they are supposedly scrambling to find sales.

However, unlike Microsoft and Intel, I didn't see any big sector fund profits, which surpised me. I thought all the big touty techs had gotten together and agreed to play internet roulette while business sucked. I guess Lou didn't make the meeting. <g>
