Microsoft was off more than 6 at 109. After the market closed on Tuesday, the world's No. 1 software maker posted fiscal second-quarter earnings that slightly topped expectations, but company officials gave a restrained view of the future.

its projection of 6.1 million for december 99 was correct.

6.1 projected for march as well and 6.2 for june.
