AH Trading. Without L2 you are subject to a little leg pulling.

Just stumbled onto an interesting discovery. I have been trading ICOM since Dec. It was between 1-2. Because I have been watching for so long I felt fairly comfortable with my read on it's patterns.

Today the stock ran up over 4 and I scaled out late in the afternoon. I was figuring I could get back in substantially lower (10%-40%).

Watching the AH ebb and flow I was surprised it did not come down fairly quickly. I have an AH screen setup on Quote.com. I also watch the ISLD Book (java version). The Java Book gives you the top 15 bids and asks and then gives you a count of the remaining bids and asks. Today I sat looking at 321 More bid, and 90 More asks.

Inititially as I sat there I was thinking, wow must have been wrong about scaling out. Guess I will sit here and revise my plan. But the longer I sat, the weirder it seemeth. Very strange, not much movement.

Qcom gives you a different view of the Island bid and ask. However they have not been real reliable with their Isld data, so I tended to discount them. One of the differences on Q.com is you have the ability to scroll down through ALL the Island quotes. Normally I have only about 20 or so on the screen, much like the Island Java Book.

I wonder, I thought to myself. I began scrolling down though the quotes. What did I find? The first 15-25 bids seemed honest. About 80% of the 300+ bids after that were for under 1/32. Hmmmmm. Uh-huh. Another deception being played out on those without L2. 80% of the AH Island Book bids were totally bogus. <g>
