(Nasdaq: LWIN - news) today announced that it has completed a previously announced transaction to acquire PCS operating licenses in North Carolina from AirGate Wireless, L.L.C. The F-Block licenses cover approximately 3.6 million potential customers (1998 POPs) in Charlotte, Greensboro and Hickory-Lenoir, N.C. In total, Leap has licenses and rights to acquire licenses covering approximately 29.2 million potential customers in markets across the country for use by its domestic subsidiary, Cricket Communications, Inc. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) previously approved Leap's acquisition of the licenses, subject to several conditions.
