Yes and the numbers are going to get even harder to find when Clarify becomes an NT division! You have to smile when you see such statements "Remedy is again the clear leader in the $550 million Help Desk market, more than doubling the market share of the nearest competitor." ... it all depends on how you versus the competition define Help Desk no? I also like how EVERYONE's statements always include the remark... 'The leading vendor in the xyz market' .. even if the company just got started :-)

I think Mike what you have is everyone conceding the laurels to Siebel and now running for cover to carve out their own 'niche' in the arena. Product service company, help desk, support desk etc.. Time will tell and Siebel's next financials should tell us loads about what's happening to market share and who is 'winning' (or won).

I can't quantify this, but back in my career days (last week), I sensed that Remedy was taking the help desk market by storm. It seemed that every Fortune 500 company I visited was about to implement or in the process of implementing Remedy.

"$550 million Help Desk market". Boy this seems small... I think they are slicing help desk VERY thinly. Remedy being a 'dominent' chimp or not Siebel is not far away from the days when they will do 500m a QUARTER. I like gorillas. If the HD market is truly this small I am not sure it's worth it.

FYI b2c market "sales are predicted to reach $1.3 Trillion by 2003"
CRM market is huge as well but I can't find my figures right now... it is well into the billions and bigger than the entire backend/erp market. :-) very, very nice..

CRM market size.

"Wednesday September 29 7:59am
AMR Research Predicts the CRM Market Will Reach $16.8 Billion by 2003
PR Newswire"

I have heard predictions even higher.. time will tell. AND if Siebel DOES dominate the CRM market... sweet indeed! It will be fun to see Siebel's financials and see what % of the CRM market they now possess and then extrapolate that out to the predicted CRM market in 2003.
