PB,

We will see the specFPint95 numbers and then we can draw the conclusions. Whether it is Itanium or Willamette. One thing did you notice, Jerry has to claim/tout how good his products are? Do you ever see Craig B. or Andy G. talk about performance #s? The products speak for themselves, plus there are hundreds of people ready to tell you how good or bad they are. Which accounts for more than anything else (customer is always right).

Re: "Jerry just said in the AMD CC that he is confident that Athlon will have superior FLP to anything Intel can put out. "

Jerry's confidence doesn't count for very much in the long run. They thought Intel could never catch then in any benchmarks and now Athlon trails in most. Somebody better remind him that CuMine currently posts better SpecFP95 scores than any Athlon processor. Compilers account for some of CuMines improvement but by no means all. Larger on-die L2 will improve scores even more.

Thread: Can anyone sketch for me the real world equivalent of the one second performance penalty of code morphing? Also, can that emulation performance penalty ever be reduced to practical O? Methinks that is similar to the old engineering saying about latency being forever. Thanks in advance.
