Intel M&A Veteran Joins Net Perceptions To Spearhead Business Development Effort MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Net Perceptions Inc. (Nasdaq: NETP) today announced that Paul Musselman, formerly with Intel Corp.'s new business development team, is joining Net Perceptions as the company's new vice president of New Business Development responsible for merger and acquisition (M&A) activity. The news follows Net Perceptions' announcement earlier this week that it plans to acquire Knowledge Discovery One (KD1), a leading software analysis company. "Musselman hit the ground running and added significant value in our recent acquisition of KD1," said Steven Snyder, president and CEO of Net Perceptions. "We're pleased to have someone with Paul's experience join us. Our strategy for growth includes both internal development and, when necessary, mergers and acquisitions. Paul's role is to identify, evaluate, execute and successfully integrate M&A transactions that help Net Perceptions expand its business and further its lead as the world's pre-eminent solutions provider in realtime personalization and customer relationship management." As part of Intel's mergers and acquisitions team, Musselman participated in more than $5 billion in acquisition opportunities in North America, Europe and the Middle East. Musselman joined Intel as one of the original members of Intel's M&A team in 1997, and has been involved in acquisitions including e-commerce, computer peripherals, networking systems equipment and telecommunications. Most notably, Musselman managed the acquisition of Digital Semiconductor in May 1998 and the Telecom Component Products Division of Stanford Telecommunications in October 1999. Before joining Intel, Musselman was a consultant for Web site production companies catering to Hollywood film studios and record production companies. From 1988 until 1991, he traded equity, debt and insurance instruments for small business and individual investors. Musselman completed his master's degree at Harvard University in 1997, studying both business and government policy. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of California at Berkeley in 1995. He has frequently spoken on the M&A process and negotiations at The Wharton School, Harvard Business School, Cornell's Johnson Graduate School of Management, Intel and the Human Resources Planning Society. Musselman also served in the U.S. Army as a special operations medic and engineer for more than 12 years. "There is tremendous opportunity at Net Perceptions," Musselman said. "This is a company that has clearly established its leadership in the realtime personalization space and has the ability to extend its technical and marketing expertise into other areas of retailing, both on and off the Web."
