Casaubon, if I took an amoral view like Hutch does, then I agree with
your comments that Alex's post contains extraneous elements.

Of course I take the opposite view, and using an example of a comment
Hutch made, something like the following.

"... this thread is about gold and making money PERIOD."

Alex used the words "truthful answer" to signal that truth and falsehood,
as in good and evil, exist and should be addressed. Unlike Hutch.

Your post contains,

<<orderly market environment would be maintained>>
<<were there a run on a bank>>
<<a large short position>>

without any mention that criminal and hurt'ing others type of activity
is part of the landscape. Correct me if I'am wrong here.

The Gata Duck Test should be applied to all gold market activity.

Roth says SNB only has small window to sell gold and can't wait
Zurich--Jan 20--Swiss National Bank Vice President Jean-Pierre Roth said
Thursday the National Bank only had a small window of opportunity for the
planned sale of 1,300 tonnes of gold reserves, and couldn't afford to wait too
long. Roth wouldn't say when the planned sales would begin, but said the legal
framework allowing the sales would be in place by end-March. (Story .20758)
