Here's an interesting play for those that think copper and/or gold prices are going to improve in 2000. Taseko Mines is sitting on potentially the biggest gold mine in Canada. The original plan was develop it and sell it off to one of the major gold mining companies. Gold prices have been so low that there wasn't any interest by anyone in buying it, so they are just sitting and waiting for gold to pick up. In the meantime, copper prices dropped so low that the copper mine next door shut down. Taseko then bought the copper mine for a song, and now with copper prices rebounding is planning on re-opening the copper mine while still sitting on the gold mine.
