I agree totally, but I'm almost positive there are plenty of people out there who really want their laptops to be portable, and six hours of battery life over three means a lot to them. (One example would be undergrad and grad students who jump from lecture to lecture using their laptops to take notes.) I acknowledge that a majority of laptops out there are plugged in 99% of the time, hence AMD's success in pushing out the power limits of their mobile processors. But that doesn't mean there isn't a market for PC laptops (not handhelds) with long battery life.

So in short, I understand Transmeta's plan-of-attack. Whether they can actually succeed or not is a different story. There are just too many risk factors, including two big players in the game (Intel and AMD) who won't sit still should Transmeta succeed.
