Come on, the low end 550-650 models are not being dropped that much and the el-cheapo 500's have disappeared. That's obviously where the demand volume is right now. AMD could probably keep their ASP at $250 just by increasing the proportion of $300-$500 parts sold, which is where the big price cuts are. I suspect Intel's top speed CuMine will be at $600, rather than $800 by the end of Q1 also. Its no longer a monopoly up in high MHz-land.

300K 650MHz and higher CPU's on hand might be just what Dell needs to get started. Its really diddly-squat in a 37M CPU/quarter market.

BTW, I predicted $250 ASP for Athlons
