Last I heard they lost a patent application or infringement suit. Something like that, but in other words they have competion concerns where before they were a monopoly...

Re VISX, I keep hearing that this is a great buying op. True, the patent business was unfortunate, but the opthalmologists I know (I know a lot) don't like the Japanese firm's laser, much preferring VISX. FWIW
