IONA Technologies Announces Worldwide Partnership With Compaq to Help Customers Reduce the Cost of Transitioning to e-Business IONA and Compaq to Jointly Develop, Market and Sell IONA iPortal Suite Optimized for Compaq Customers WALTHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 20, 2000-- IONA© Technologies (NASDAQ:IONA - news), today announced a significant worldwide partnership with Compaq Computer that will drive IONA's products to new markets with Compaq, and help Compaq's customers ease the transition to e-business. Under terms of the agreement, IONA and Compaq will jointly develop, market and sell versions of IONA iPortal Suite and other IONA products supporting all Compaq platforms. Compaq Professional Services will incorporate IONA technologies into its Compaq NonStop e-business solutions offerings, and Compaq will have worldwide distribution rights to all IONA products on all platforms. The two companies will collaborate in a joint engineering development project to deliver an IONA iPortal Suite optimized for Compaq. IONA will release the iPortal Suite for Compaq by the end of 2Q 2000, and will offer support for Windows NT (Intel) and Compaq Tru64 UNIX. As part of this agreement, IONA will include Compaq Tru64 UNIX as one of their top tier platforms for software releases. IONA will also port Orbix 2000, IONA's new middleware engine based on a new modular architecture designed for the dynamic operations of enterprise portals, to Compaq's OpenVMS platform.
