But "the market" is saying the BULL lives.

Yes, at the moment, but the doctor is entering the room to perform a surgical procedure on the economy, that is, slow it down in early February. The doctor will probably have to perform another procedure in March and after evaluating the post operative results may have to perform more surgery in the months ahead. The very real risk you take here is that Dr. Greenspan raises rates to induce a mild or more moderate recession and we all know what that does to equity prices.

Another thought is if you wish to get out at or near the top of the market, or before a significant correction, you must sell at or near the top of the market which is always a difficult call psychologically and materially.

Finally, if the market was to correct to let's say 7500 such as it did a year and a half ago do you really think Greenspan will cut rates again? (Not a chance.) And what is the probability the market meanders around the bottom for a prolonged period of time.

A lot of questions. A lot to think about. No straight forward answers. No easy solutions.

Larry: Re: "(1) Have been investing sine 1969 (31 years)"

Who cares. The real question is how long has Hal been investing <g>.

Re: "(2) Respect Bob's opinion and listen to him on the radio."

Me too.

Re: "(3) But "the market" is saying the BULL lives.
Nasdaq just made a new intraday high this morning."

Hey, do options expire this week<g>? Nasdaq is only part of the market. Sounds like you are riding high in the techs. Nobody said the Nasdaq could not make a marginal new high.

But the overall market is stuck or topping depending on your view. I would watch the SPY and not get mesmerized by the Naz.

Re: "(4) Yes ! Interest rates will win (peak april 1987) vs market peak (Aug 1987)"

Interest rates always win in the long run.

Re: "(5) But not right now."

Hey, they are killing the financials. They are getting creamed.

I like to sell on strength. It took a few months to pump this monster Naz rally up and it may well take some time to let some air out of it.
