Just heard on CNBC that there was a rumor that Soundview downgraded INTC. CNBC confirmed that the rumor was untrue. But, INTC has not rebounded.

Yaacov, it was reported that there was a rumor on the street of an Intel downgrade coming. So far there has been no confirmation of the rumor. But in this market a rumor either way can move a stock quickly.

You seem to be an unusually nervous longterm stockholder. I recall some strange days last week or earlier. I would have thought with your beautiful surroundings that there would be a little more serenity and relaxed attitude coming from over there :^)

I have held Intel for 17 years and believe me some of those early years were not amusing. Or enriching. There is a time for patience and a time to lose patience. You seem to lose patience fairly quickly by my standards.

I think for a long term holder the question is, "How will Intel fare over the next couple of years". If you like the best answer you can come up with for that question, it's a hold or a buy more. If you don't it's a sell or even a short. But there over 250 days a year when there will be markets open and healthy swings up and down. Fortunately for my financial health, I've had faith that Intel will weather the storms (real and imagined) that are tossed its way. And Intel is up over 100 times from what I originally paid. But I periodically evaluate the prospects and remake a decision on whether I want to hold, sell or buy more. Haven't reached a sell decision yet, though I have bought more over the years and deeply regret not having bought more.

Best regards,
Burt

Yaacov,

What gives?

1. Profit taking from recent runup.
2. Rumor that Soundview downgraded INTC. CNBC just said they checked with Soundview and rumor is FALSE.
3. Overblown publicity on Transmeta chip.

It's a good time to buy more stock or leaps.

Intel will do just fine.
