The surprise is that you think this some sort of "difference." I do not think there is an incontrovertible law floating in the cosmos claiming media organisms should be disinterested parties in their handling of the news. If so then there is no difference between what you've seen there in MN and what others have seen in Atlanta. In this context American media organisms are entities just as are individual Americans, and so they have the right to ally themselves with certain factions and points-of-view. We likewise are allowed to form coalitions or associations with those with which we agree. We are free not to believe those (even media entities) who speak against our views, free not to associate with them. In other words, we are yet free to "fire" them when they lobby against our interests, just as they our free to "fire" us (should we be under their employ) when we lobby against theirs. This "difference" of yours is quite false.
