Yahoo Japan Nears US$1M

January 20, 2000 (TOKYO) -- Yahoo Japan Corp. came close Wednesday to becoming the nation's first million-dollar stock, bid up by investors expecting explosive growth on the Japanese Internet scene. Yahoo Japan's share price crossed the crucial 100 million yen ($947,687) mark in early trading on Tokyo's over-the-counter market. It finished the morning session at a record-high 101.4 million yen ($960,955).
