OK Bruce.. spill the beans! What were the results of all of these discussions! If you had to pick 2-3 stocks to cover the b2b sector. Who would it be and why.

I guess you'll just have to go back and read the past months posts on the Gorilla Game investing in the eWorld thread. <ggg>

Pick 2-3 stocks to cover the entire B2B sector? What kind of basket is that? I'm assuming that you have a quality basket of application-software gorillas to begin with, so let's add to that collection of Oracle, Siebel and SAP.

Okay.

Number One - i2. Why? Because they did B2B before it was cool as we say at the Fool. What better company than the niche gorilla of supply chain management that telegraphed their move into the transition of web presence SCM or B2B well over a year ago. They have the best algo's in the business and hey - they make money. B2B is SCM (more or less).

Number Two - Ariba. Why? Because I love to say Ariba. You have to really roll the 'r' when you say it and finish the last vowel with a resounding 'ah' instead of the typical American 'uh' sound. Like this (big breath now):

ArrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeebAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Actually - that's not the reason. Their business model looks the most solid in comparison to Commerce One in terms of licensing structure and services and since you want it narrowed down to two or three - you can't have both. Both companies are building quite a nice client list as well as partnership/alliance base. Focus on the fee structure and the options available for the matrix members of both companies.

Number Three - ICGE. Why? No better way to 'diversify' than the ultimate B2B incubator with Geoff Moore as consultant. SFE also fits the space, but you only said two or three. ICGE holds some real, roll up the sleeve, let's get dirty and do some smoke filled room B2B far removed from anything glamorous companies.

There are my two to three nuggets. I'm just back from three hours of Italian opera rehearsal, have consumed two glasses of wine and can only refer you to the eWorld thread where I went quite a bit deeper into Ariba, ICGE and i2. Probably back in the September/October/November time frame.
