I don't feel I made a mistake and I don't feel that a rising stock price will change that since the better part of my portfolio will take care of my retirement.<g> Money not made is not the same as money lost but real houses will keep you warm at night and give you shelter from rain. This is what only real money can do. Potentially more money won't increase your state of happiness.

It's simply that my portfolio expanded 1200 % in 1999 and the risk/opportunity ratio wouldn't let me sleep well with theses $ 40k movements a day. I just took sth. off the table and will spend it for better living. There are still much more opportunities than I have gambling money. SFTBF will end the year at substantially higher prices, if not I don't care - and that's what it's all about. For me, that is.

As has been previously stated by people smarter than me: the game has to be played to win and to not lose.
