anyone know anything about Global Crossing Ltd. taking a stake in Storage Networks Inc.? (Robert, is this on your list?)
anyone ever hear of the company?
i found this today in The Wall Street Urinal:

Dow Jones Newswires -- January 20, 2000
Early Antitrust Clearances Approved By FTC

WASHINGTON -- The following is a list of companies or persons that the Federal Trade Commission has cleared of antitrust concerns in connection with the proposed purchase
of assets or common stock: (Source - Federal Filings Business News)

Name of acquiring person or company / Name of entity with assets or stock acquired
(a bunch of unrelated companies omitted)
Global Crossing Ltd. / Storage Networks Inc.
Dell Computer Corp. / Storage Networks Inc.

The above companies or persons were granted early termination of the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act. The termination date is 01/19/2000. The FTC provides no further information on these transactions.

The Hart-Scott-Rodino Act generally requires investors to notify the Federal Trade Commission if they intend to acquire a minimum of 15% of a company's outstanding shares, or, stock or assets valued at a minimum of $15 million.

The statute is designed to enable the FTC to review proposed mergers and acquisitions for possible violations of the antitrust laws. The FTC frequently grants "early termination" of the waiting period required by law.
