Feb crude settled at 29.66 at expiration today while the new current month, Mar, closed at 27.97. Thats a hell of a big gap. Mar is up to the mid 28's in afterhours trading. Not sure whether this means Feb was caught up in technical action, unwinding positions and covering shorts and that Mar was the more meaningful price. I think we can expect strong prices tomorrow based on the afterhours action. I expect the OSX correction to be short-lived. I don't see retracement to the low 80's.

Jim--Take a look at the long term weekly or monthly chart of the New York Financial Index (NF) going back to 1990 ----To me, it shows a clear Wave 1 from 90 to 93, Wave 2 from 93-94 and then Wave 3 from 94 to 98 followed by an ABCDE triangle for Wave 4 which is almost complete--suggesting that Wave 5 to a new high could soon be starting that could see NF rising roughly 70% from current levels!---A triangle is a classic type of a Wave 4 pattern under elliott. When I look at this chart, the triangle nature of the correction since the summer of 98 suggests strongly of new highs to come, since quite apart from EW, triangles are usually continuation patterns...Food for thought---my 2c fwiw
