KANA vs ESHR

can somebody please help me with this. Can these 2 companies really be competitors in the same industry.

KANA has a market cap over 5.5 billion. They just posted a loss for the quarter of $3.52 a share on revenues of 6.5 million (14.1 million for all of 1999)

ESHR has a market cap of just over 370 million. They have 72 million in revenues over the last 9 months (prior to the latest quarter) and are estimated to post a loss of .10 a share.

How can such a dramatic difference in share price/market cap occur under these circumstances. I just cant understand it.

<<If I understand correctly, KANA reported disappointing results today. It seems to me that if KANA takes a dive tomorrow we should expect to see a sympathy dip tomorrow (although hopefully a small one). >>

Maybe yes...maybe no. Typically you do see sympathy moves. However, anything significant is because of the fear of a sector wide slowdown. In other words, we may get a little dip, or we may get a big dip if folks attribute Kana's disappointment as being a sector wide problem. Personally, I think the sector never looked stronger, and one of the reasons KANA is disappointing is the fact that ESHR is now making a significant dent. In other words, maybe ESHR is the reason Kana is slowing down.

Just an opinion, anyway.
