The first program that I installed when I got a'486 was act. I have loved it and cursed it ever since. I use it for sales contact, and it has always been buggy. Like most of these companies, such as Quicken,they have kept adding internet features and dumbing the program down without really doing a fix on it. I won't buy an upgrade on either Act or Quicken because they have nothing to offer me but new problems.

I am getting a lot of inquires about my appearance on some other threads lately. I am starting to follow some other companies that I plan to put some bucks into. I posted last December that I would sell about 25% of my Qualcomm and put it elsewhere. I am probably going to do this around Q's earnings on the 25th. My thinking, at the moment, is JDSU, CREE, and EXDS. I may spread it a little further. I will post what I do when I do it.

Siebel working down. ACT! (SalesLogix) working up. They meet in the middle tier?

I don't know enough about SLGX to know how successful they'll be in the mid-tier range. So far, I'm inclined to think Siebel won't be particularly successful there, meaning I don't believe Siebel will be the outperformer selling to the middle range that thev've become selling to the big boys.

... but the NEW game is on the web. I do not know this for a fact, but I intuit it.

My guess is that John Chambers would tell you it's a fact. :)

As Moore points out in the RFM, the issue of Web enablement might have been at least a temporary disadvantage to Siebel. The company's products are big and bulky, not particularly easy to adapt to the Web. For the companies who had more easily adaptable products, their advantage weakens as time marches on, allowing Siebel to play catch-up when it comes to Web enablement.
