Trade in Citrix MetaFrame -- Upgrade to Tarantella Enterprise II

Tarantella© Enterprise II web-enabling software is the latest generation of Tarantella technologies. This product is designed for use by large organizations and companies, and has superior capabilities to other enterprise-class application delivery products.

Tarantella Enterprise II will be released on 23rd January 2000.

To assist existing Citrix MetaFrame users to evaluate and migrate to Tarantella Enterprise II, SCO has introduced a trade-in program. This trade-in program is valid for 6 (six) months from 23rd January 2000.

How long until analysts figure out that they've got a shot at another CTXS just getting off the ground in terms of valuation? The biggest winners in investing are the investors with the vision to buy while the business/product is in development. The implication of Tarantella II and the growing breadth of their server products (about to include Linux) is significant. Significant to warrant early investment. Harmon's momo followers caused unnecessary volatility in this stock, but that is over.

I don't know how SCO plans to roll out Tarantella II, but it seems reasonable that their existing client base provides a built in supply of potential customers - customers like Tandy, Safeway, Walgreens, etc...

Stock has settled down. Time to be patient and focus on buying and holding for the future.

leslie: further info:
SCO will have a lot of their applications running on Linux during Feb. 1-4 at LinuxWorld in New York. They have a "Linux Portoflio" that they will be releasing.

Not too long ago they released lxrun for SCO that would allow Linux apps to run on SCO. Now SCO can run on Linux (Linux has been able to run SCO binaries for quite awhile actually but now Tarantella and probably other SCO apps will be able to run on Linux.)
