The alternative is to organize an effort to lobby for a change and followup on said lobby. How many of us subscribe to CSW? I'm not suggesting that we become militant, so un-Canadian -gg-, but it would be difficult to ignore us as a group. Speaking for myself, I would rather see CSW develop non-ticker-dependent, realtime news alert service that put more resources into their current news product. The fact that Gerry from CSW I know reads most of the Canadian daytraders thread and this thread is the one that should understand our plight the best. I dont know for sure if Gerry has ever explained as to why this can or cannot happen. Obviously!!!!!! if CSW was able to put together a comprehensive News package that at this point would rival all the others , this would surely impact their bottom line for the good. Is this simply a case of not the manpower, unwillingness to provide what the clients are looking for , or is cost the factor that makes the service to expensive to provide? The idea would be to have the program poll these sources periodically. If you have enough bandwidth, you could do this quite often. If you have a 56k connection you probably couldn't do it more often than once/min. What I would like is a simple scrolling window with entries like this (truncated for SI entry): 04:12:21 TIW Telesystem Interna... TIW files final prospectus... 04:05:44 NDY Normandy Mining Lt... Normandy Mining three-mont... 03:54:01 CSQ.A Cable Satisfaction... Cable Satisfaction complet... where the ticker would be a link to a CSW quote and the headline would be a link to the source of the release/news. This is still a hack however as a real service would provide other features -- to name just a few: * show me only news based on keys (tickers, keywords, etc.) * restrict ticker news to stocks at $5 or more * provide price-action news a la tradehard.com * market snapshot updates (indices and so forth) Gerry, these are very good suggestions. Do you want feedback so that you can take this to your people or are you the people? I'm sure that with the quality of people hanging on this thread and the ones that seriously trade for a living could give you serious realistic expectations for features that would benefit all. You continuously hear most of our grumblings things arent going well, maybe its time for us to see how we can help you improve the product. It is clear that most use your product for Canadian traders, some of us pay through the nose for other sources. Your product is still clearly lacking some features and timelyness. What can we expect for improvements? I am sure that the serious traders would not hesitate to contribute constructive feedback, and yes even possibly pay more IF IF IF some of the inadequacies were rectified. WB
