Satyam Infoway says cannot predict 2000/01 results
NEW DELHI, Jan 21 (Reuters) - Indian Internet firm Satyam Infoway Ltd (NasdaqNM:SIFY - news) said on Friday it could not forecast operating results for its Internet business in the year ending March 2001 after reports suggested it might break even then.

``Satyam Infoway cannot predict its operating results for 2000/01 for its ISP (Internet services provider) business or any other segment of its business,' the company said in a statement from the southern city of Madras.

On Thursday, Satyam Infoway vice-president of Internet sales Pradeep Lakshmanan said his firm would break even in 2000/01, replying to a question posed at a business seminar on when Satyam Infoway would break even.

``This press report and the employee's comments should not be viewed as a projection or forecast of Satyam Infoway's future financial reports,' the statement said.

Satyam Infoway, a subsidiary of India's Satyam Computers Services Ltd , offers Internet access services in 33 cities and has about 120,000 subscribers. It also operates a portal, SatyamOnline.com.
