"Some good analysis and some bad analysis, pretty typical of @HOME. Worth a listen."

Hi Jay- Johnstone is very lukewarm with respect to ATHM. I'd like to know more about his definition and formula of profitability. If he's accurate, ATHM isn't the only company making the numbers look better than what they are. Do YHOO and AOL really have earnings? Geesh...he doesn't expect a profit from ATHM until 2002.

I don't know about ATHM being in denial about open access. I think they know it's coming and the jouster is on his horse. Putting on a public "happy face" is normal. Bell knows he's got his work cut out for him. I like the fact that ATHM is aggressively seeking deals through other platforms. This will broaden their high speed reach. Why does open access ALWAYS have to be a negative for ATHM? I'm not convinced it is now. If it becomes a forced reality, I expect ATHM to fight for access, too. Look out, AOL!
