Thought this might interest the board -- received this from Transpoint today. Interesting that in the list of "COMPANIES THAT OFFER ONLINE BILLS IN YOUR AREA" they leave off the only one I actually receive bills from, Con Edison. But its looks from this that T-Point has developed pay anyone capability. Happy year 2000! This edition of the TransPoint? Update contains information about our upgrade of the service, which will occur on Saturday, January 22 and Sunday, January 23. The upgrade will expand your online payment options and offer you some other great new features. During this weekend, the TransPoint service will be temporarily unavailable. Q. When will I be able to pay more companies using the TransPoint Internet Payment service? A. Starting next week! Watch for the announcement about our expanded service. You'll have the option of being able to send payments to anyone in the United States-companies and people. Q. Now that I'm registered, when can I start paying my bills? A. After you register, it takes five to ten business days to receive your activation code in the U.S. mail, to verify and activate your bank account information, and to process your billing account information with the companies you sign up to pay. When these steps are complete, you'll be ready to start paying your bills through the TransPoint Internet Payment service. Q. Why was my request to pay a specific company rejected? How do I contact the company? A. Make sure that you entered all of the required information on the E-Biller Sign-up form (name, account number, and billing address), and make sure you entered your account number just as it appears on your paper bill from that company. Incorrectly entered account numbers are a major reason why companies participating with TransPoint Internet Payment reject some customer sign-up requests. If the information you sent looks correct and your request was still rejected, contact the company's customer service department directly by using the telephone number or e-mail address on the company's paper bill. If you're signed up with a particular company and have a question about an online bill that you received from them, just click Request Support on the bill and submit the online form, or call their customer service number. OTHER QUESTIONS? If you have questions about the service or how it works, just visit ebills.transpoint.com and click the Help tab.
