Richer TiVo Service to Include Premium Movie Services, Enhanced Network Showcases and Interactivity

TiVo Demonstrates Expanded Offering at the National Association of Programming Executives Conference in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS, (NATPE), Jan. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- TiVo, Inc. (Nasdaq: TIVO - news), the creator of personal television, today announced several enriched areas of the TiVo service. These new areas will offer viewers simple ways to view theatrical movie trailers, view show times for local theatres, order movies on demand and automatically record the best shows on television. The new services are being demonstrated at the NATPE conference this week (Booth #2790).

``These exciting new services are part of TiVo's vision for bringing the best entertainment, interactivity and even greater levels of personalization to our customers,' said Stacy Jolna, vice president of Programming and Media Partnerships for TiVo. ``These advancements further our commitment to provide consumers with the utmost in entertainment choice, control and convenience.'

TiVo Enhanced Network Showcases(TM)

Currently, the TiVo service offers Network Showcases -- a collection of themed programming areas that offer information on upcoming and seasonal programs and allows viewers to schedule recording from their favorite networks. As part of its future service upgrades, Network Showcases will become unique destinations, reflecting the personality and style of the network.

``As the traditional forms of communication between viewer and network evolve, the TiVo service is providing new and interesting ways to reach out to consumers,' said John Miller, President of The NBC Agency. ``With TiVo's Network Showcases, we have the opportunity to promote our programs in a way that appeals to each viewer's individual choices.'

Participating networks will potentially offer interactive video previews in their themed showcase, which let TiVo customers make immediate recording decisions while viewing program clips. In addition, premium network partners will be able to utilize their showcases to provide exclusive programming to TiVo customers.

The result is a fun, interactive way for TiVo customers to find and record the best movies and shows on television.

TiVo Cineplex(TM)

Also unveiled at NATPE -- the result of TiVo's ongoing work with its entertainment partners -- is a new feature area called TiVo Cineplex. TiVo Cineplex will give subscribers exclusive interactive movie trailers with show times in their neighborhood, previews of new home video releases and information about cable and satellite pay-per-view offerings.

``TiVo Cineplex will deliver unprecedented interactivity to consumers, offering even more information about entertainment options, whether they are on the small screen of TV or the big screen at the theater,' continued Jolna.

Late last year, TiVo announced a revolutionary feature to its subscribers in the form of interactive previews. The Ipreview feature will also be demonstrated at the NATPE conference. Ipreview allows TiVo subscribers to automatically record television programs directly from the promotions for those shows. It will be rolled out to consumers in early 2000.
