India's state-run phone services firm Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd
(MTNL) is willing to share revenues from Internet access with private
Internet service providers (ISPs), its chairman said on Thursday.
"I am ready to share the revenues," Srinivas Rajagopalan told a
seminar on ISPs in the Indian capital.
He later told reporters that the details had not yet been worked out
and would be negotiated with the ISPs.
Nearly four million people subscribe to MTNL's fixed-line phone
service and over 20,000 use its Internet service.
MTNL competes with other ISPs while being a telephone services
company. Internet services in India are not toll-free and increased
Internet usage boosts revenue for telephone access providers likeMTNL.
