EMC faces competition from IBM. IBM relenquished its storage market to EMC a few years ago, but has announced that it will be providing a SAN product.

You say that EMC will not yield the NAS market gracefully. Of course, you realize, that that market is not theirs to "yield". They have no NAS product and are a year away from delivering one. The work that EMC has to do to get a NAS product is similar in scope to the work that NTAP would need to do to deliver a SAN product (which they have no intent to do). It will be interesting, but the threat to EMC by NTAP is, imo, much greater than the threat of EMC to NTAP.

But, I agree with your contention that both companies dominate their space. They are Kings and all else are minor threats in niche markets. Huge growth ahead, great profit margins.
