These aren't Spice models (though there are aspects of Spice in the device models) - these are models of Greens equations or other equivalents. They are modeling the propogation of energy in space populated with boards with metallic conductive paths. The better software can model cables or all kinds (folded ribbon included), multilayer board stackups and backplanes. We have seen everything from simple PC based to elaborate Unix-only workstation software.
