Sawtooth: The question remains is LU a trail blazer or a follower when it comes to capitalizing on their R&D.

What is the ratio of spending on fundamental research vrs Applied .

What is their history regarding ramping up production from the prototype.? Any known records etc.?

Thanks.

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing LU spin-off some of their divisions and focus on the
core emerging technologies.

That's been the success formula for investors in many companies. Is there any hint that they are considering it? It's hard for most executives to consider that maybe somebody else can do a better job managing a division as a separate company than they can do managing it as part of their company. (lousy grammar, but the idea is there.) Takes a pretty mature management, and one that's more focussed on shareholder value than on personal ego.
