She is absolutely wrong on the tax deferral question. Just run the numbers through the two scenarios, if I contribute to an RRSP or if I don't. Then look at what one has (after tax) at retirement. I am way ahead (and I mean hugely) putting money in the RRSP.

Of course, this does not account for some of her other points, in particular that I am restricted in what I can invest in. Even then, many people invest more than 20% stateside inside there RRSPs and laugh at the "penalty" they are charged to do so.
