Ah options.....
I got up early this morning, intending to sell my June JDSU calls, because JDSU has run up so much lately. June is a long way off but I dont have much hopes for April-June as we often have corrections during that period.
Anyway I looked at the first sale of that particular call and it was at such a high price I stopped and wondered. I then put in market orders for a couple of the ones I had at Fidelity and a limit order between the bid and ask at Brown.
The market order at Fidelity got filled a good 7 points below the price I had for my limit order at Brown but the ones at Brown never executed because within the next few minutes JDSU fell, never to recover.
And the call fell too so that it closed below what I sold the ones I DID sell (for, at, whatever).
Moral: when you decide to do something, do it. It doesnt matter that much because JDSU is great and it will probably have another run up before the split in March. However, I knew that the price is often at its highest the first thing in the morning and rather than hesitating I would have done better to follow my strategy which would have been just put in a market order as soon as the market opened.
Have a great weekend, all.
Wish I'd bought those ancr calls I looked at Wed when the stock was at 38!!!!!!
