Some RadioStreet interview recap:

First off, Rob Herb is a very articulated CMO. Great to have him with AMD.

--- there is large room for both company to operate well, PC growth is there.

Me: a signal to a truce?

--- Dresdon, initial production in Q2, volumn in Q3.

--- have very good Athlon mix and capacity, don't have to push the limit to stay ahead in performance (compared to K6 experience).

Me: no K6 type of breakdown, period!

--- already successful commercial Athlon systems in second tier OEMs and white box makers, will push first tier and enterprise systems.

Me: somebody's $280 target depends on that:~)

--- comm division becomes on of three core businness (CPU and flash as other 2), great opportunities in network solutions in Asia and South America, doing just great.

Me: given the "unexpected" success in Q4, AMD doesn't need to sell a growth product portfolio. Network means money, everywhere, period.

--- Q1'00 margin mid 30s up to 40s percentage wise.

Me: somebody comment? good? OK? concern?

--- one of the concerns is to manage customers' expectations on flash allocation. Just learned that flash and CPU are not easily swappable in terms of production facility.

--- have a GREAT product portfolio in Athlon, the only remaining concern in CPU business is execution.

Me: no technology problem, no capacity problem, just be cautious while making big money.

--- very confident to have a great year.

Me: Yeah, baby. Just love it. Bought more today at 38 1/8.

Regards,

Gateway expands AMD deal to business line>

Super! Confirms what Kap said a few days back. Thanks for posting!

Feeling good about ~2Mu or greater estimate for Athlons in Q1

THIS IS A REALLY NICE BREAK FOR AMD.

panic_mob, re:Gateway expands AMD deal to business line

If Gateway expands Athlons to business line, Compaq may be compelled to do it too - especially if they had great results with Athlons in the consumer sector.

Panic - RE: "Gateway expands AMD deal to business line"

If I may borrow a line from the RamBUST thread -

"drip, drip"

!!

This is good news. Can't wait until Compaq joins in on the party.

The new computers, among other signs, indicate that the marriage of convenience between the two is growing affectionate. The San Diego, Calif.-based PC maker has also expanded its use of Athlon in the ordinary Select computers.

panic_mob, it makes you wonder how exactly Intel 'cheated' on GTW. And now with HP acting like a spurned lover, it makes you further wonder just how badly Intel did not put out. Is it something Viagra can fix? I doubt it.
