John, Excellent Summary!!

Thankyou for taking the time to help us understand in detail.

My understanding was a little fuzzy, but gets clearer the more we discuss Options.

Petz, <<both the selling of call options and a heavy open interest in "in the money" call options drives the price down>>

A useful post, thanks.

I counted 8 million shares of open interest in Jan calls of 35 and below. However, if those calls are hedged by the writers (so no big upside potential) and were exercised at the close by people like me (who are overloading on the stock and looking for small gains on Monday) then I guess they will first provide a small lift on Monday morning as the writers cover, followed by some heavy resistance as a lot of the shares come back on the market :(
